The Triggered Dual-Pole Portal is a high-efficiency hardware configuration designed for maximum read accuracy and energy conservation in remote locations. This architecture utilizes two distinct poles to create a comprehensive "gate" across a driveway or yard exit. Pole A serves as the master hub, housing the Zebra FXR90 reader and the Voltaic CORE solar power system. It also hosts the primary antenna and the Banner photo-eye beam sensor. Pole B, situated on the opposite side of the road, is a passive extension containing a second high-gain antenna and a retro-reflective target. By separating the antennas, the system achieves superior coverage of vehicle-mounted RFID tags from both sides, ensuring that heavy equipment or obscured tags are never missed as they pass through the portal.

The defining advantage of this setup is its "Event-Triggered" logic, which drastically reduces the daily power load on the battery. Rather than scanning continuously, the system remains in a low-power idle state until a vehicle breaks the infrared beam between the two poles. This action triggers a precise, 10-second high-power scanning window, allowing the reader to capture tag data and transmit it via 5G only when necessary. To connect the two sides of the portal, a single low-loss antenna cable is run beneath the driveway through a protective PVC conduit or across the surface via a heavy-duty cable ramp. This intelligent design enables the system to thrive in harsh winter conditions where sunlight is scarce, providing 100% directional visibility without the risk of battery depletion.
